The Day of the Dead is a celebration of the one day a year that the dead can reunite with the living and there is no more potent symbol for this important celebration than the decorated Catrina, or sugar skull.
The catrina skull is rendered here with a crown of flowers decorated with turquoise-coloured beads. The design hangs from an ornate bale decorated with kissing lovebirds.
