The flowing ornate lines that highlight the curved folds of the wings on this over-sized Monarch butterfly brooch lend themselves to the mid-century designs of the Taller Borda in Taxco.

While not a Hector Aguilar piece, this statement brooch is nonetheless a stunning example of Mexican 1940s silverwork.The large out-spread butterfly wings are decorated with green turquoise cabochons and polised demi-beads that create a classic silhouette of jewellery from the Mexican silver renaissance. 

The brooch closes with a large roll-over clasp and pin fastener that functions just as well as it did from its first use in the 1940s. In excellent vintage condition, this striking piece of Mexican jewellery is the perfect gift for anyone who appreciates the beauty of well-made jewellery.
